What are the device/system requirements for using OKIOCAM?

OKIOCAMs are USB plug-and-play (UVC compliant) document cameras that don’t require installations of additional device drivers before using.

System compatibility:

Windows 7 or later
macOS 10.10 or later
ChromeOS

OKIOCAMs are designed to function with computers and interactive displays with built-in PC. It may work with Android device on certain third-party applications. However, OKIOCAMs do not work on iOS mobile devices like iPad, iPhone, etc.

What resolution and framerate does OKIOCAM support?

All OKIOCAM models support up to 30 fps. The maximum supported resolution of each OKIOCAM is as follows:

OKIOCAM S 30 fps at 1920x1440p
OKIOCAM T 30 fps at 2592×1944p
OKIOCAM T Plus 30 fps at 2592×1944p
OKIOCAM S2 30 fps at 1920x1440p
OKIOCAM S2 Pro 30 fps at 3840x2160p/15 fps@3840x3104p
OKIOCAM X1 30 fps at 3840x2160p
OKIOCAM W1 30 fps at 2048x1536p/15 fps at 2592x1944p/8 fps at 4192x3104p

Kindly note that the actual frame rate depends on not only the camera, but also the video settings, the lighting environment, the computer specifications, the software being used, and the internet bandwidth if you are using the OKIOCAM online.

How to turn on/off OKIOCAM?

The OKIOLABS does not have a power button. It automatically turns on when you open software that requires access to the camera. When the software is terminated, the OKIOCAM will automatically turn off.

Does OKIOCAM have a built-in microphone?

The OKIOCAM S2 and S2 Pro are equipped with a built-in microphone, while the OKIOCAM W1 and X1 are equipped with two microphones that are capable of recording stereo audio. The OKIOCAM S, T and T Plus require users to record audio using an external microphone as they do not have a built-in one.

Does OKIOCAM have a built-in light?

The OKIOCAM W1 and X1 are equipped with a powerful built-in LED ring light and a stepless dimmer to adjust the brightness. With these models, you will be able to capture contents even in extreme low light conditions.

The S2 Pro also has a built-in LED light, and there is no built-in light on the OKIOCAM S, S2, T, and T Plus. There are buttons for adjusting the exposure, but we suggest that users use these models in a well-lit environment to ensure the best image quality.

Does OKIOCAM have buttons for adjusting the exposure?

Except for OKIOCAM S2 Pro, there is a button (or two buttons) on the OKIOCAM for users to adjust the exposure. For OKIOCAM S2 Pro, by default, the exposure and white balance is automatically adjusted under both AFS and AFC modes.

Regardless of the model, users can adjust the exposure through our free downloadable software, OKIOCAM Snapshot and Recorder, OKIOCAM Live, and Camera Control.

Does OKIOCAM have the capability to zoom in and out?

Except for OKIOCAM S2 and X1, there is a button on all OKIOCAMs for users to zoom in up to 4 levels without any quality loss with the LSZ (Lossless Sensor Zoom) technology. 

 

The zoom button only functions when the resolution setting is lower than a certain level (1920×1080p for OKIOCAM S, T, and T Plus; 2048x1536p for OKIOCAM S2 Pro and W1). The actual zoom percentage depends on the resolution setting you are using. Lower resolution, higher zooming percentage, and vice versa.

 

Regardless of the model, users can zoom in and out up to 6x (digital zoom) using our free downloadable software, OKIOCAM Snapshot and Recorder.

Does OKIOCAM have autofocus?

Yes. All of the OKIOCAM models have the functionality of auto-focus single (AFS). For OKIOCAM S2 Pro, W1, and X1, there is a Mode button for users to switch between the auto-focus single (AFS) and auto-focus continuous (AFC) mode.

When using the AFS mode, you can press the Focus button to trigger auto-focus. The focus will be locked until the Focus button is pressed again. On the other hand, the AFC mode constantly auto-adjust the focus which leaves you hands-free.

Does OKIOCAM work with a projector/smart board/TV?

Yes, however, OKIOCAM cannot be directly connected to projectors or displays. To use OKIOCAM with a projector/smart board/TV, simply connect both of them to a computer.

Can I use OKIOCAM to scan documents?

OKIOCAM is a document camera and can be used to digitize paper documents by taking photos of them. However, it does not scan and export documents as PDF files like a scanner.

What are the device/system requirements for OKIOLABS webcams?

OKIOCAM webcams are completely plug-and-play that does not require users to install any additional device driver. The system compatibility is as follows:

Windows 7 or later
macOS 10.10 or later
Android 5.0 or later
ChromeOS

The default connection interface is USB-A, but we do include a USB-C adapter so that users with later versions of Macbook do not need to buy a new one.

Do OKIOLABS webcams support 4K resolution?

The OKIOLABS A6 supports up to 1080P (1920×1080), while the A8 and A10 support up to 4K (3840×2160) resolution. However, the actual available resolution could vary depending on the application you are using the webcam with. For example, Google Meet allows users to manually adjust the resolution up to 720p, while Microsoft Teams adjusts the resolution automatically up to 1080p depending on network connectivity.

Do OKIOLABS webcams support 60 fps?

Currently, the A6 is the only OKIOLABS webcam that supports 60 fps at 1080P resolution. The A8 and A10 do not support 30 fps. Instead, they support 30 fps at up to 4K resolution.

Kindly note that the actual frame rate depends on not only the webcam, but also the lighting environment, the computer performance, the software being used, the video settings, and the internet bandwidth if you are using the webcam online.

Do OKIOLABS webcams have a built-in microphone?

Yes. All OKIOLABS webcams are equipped with two microphones for recording stereo audio.

Do OKIOLABS webcams have autofocus?

OKIOLABS webcams are equipped with a fixed focus lens (also known as focus free lens), which means the focus is not adjustable. Therefore, there is no autofocus on OKIOLABS webcams.

To ensure the highest video quality, we suggest users maintain a minimum distance of 16 in. (40 cm).

How does the OKIOLABS A10 AI auto framing work?

AI Auto Framing adjusts the field of view by automatically zooming, panning, and tilting to ensure all participants are positioned correctly in the frame.

To turn on the AI Auto Framing function, simply switch the button on the USB cable to the “I” input position.

The LED light on the front of the OKIOLABS A10 indicates the status of the webcam:

Blue: The AI Auto Framing function is on.
Green: The AI Auto Framing function is off.
No light: The OKIOLABS A10 is off.

The default field of view is set at 125 degrees when the AI Auto Framing function is off.

Note: AI Auto Framing function supports up to 1080p and will be automatically disabled when your resolution setting exceeds 1080p.
