It’s next to impossible to be the perfect teacher. Unless you have only one student, you can’t watch over everyone at once. Inevitably, there will be important things that you miss, flaws in working processes you don’t catch. It’s when teachers don’t catch these errors that they become problems. It’s always a worry that students will repeat the same mistakes over and over until they form bad habits. Our free Google Chrome extension, OKIOCAM Time-Lapse, makes it quick and easy for you to review all your students’ workings, ensuring that you don’t miss anything.
When all your students have an OKIOCAM and a computer with OKIOCAM Time-Lapse installed, they can record themselves completing their work, ready for you to review later at speeds of up to 20x! Their time-lapse videos are uploaded to their Google Drive accounts automatically, making it super simple for them to share their videos with you, too!
If 12 8th grade students were to solve math problems for 30 minutes each, collectively they would work for 6 hours. Reviewing students’ work for 6 hours is simply not realistic. However, if they were to use OKIOCAM Time-Lapse to record themselves completing their work and increase the playback speed to 20x, you would be able to review their work in only 18 minutes—a significantly more feasible proposition. If they were to speed them up to the comparatively more leisurely pace of 8x, you would still be able to review their work in just 45 minutes!
Your students can review the videos they create, too. This can help build excellent revision habits that can benefit them throughout their entire education. We all know how important it is to revise previously learned work. Challenging topics don’t thoroughly stick in our brains after we initially learn them. It is only after topics are revisited and revised several times that we have a true understanding of them. OKIOCAM Time-Lapse aids in fostering an interest in revising previously completed work — something that is notoriously difficult to get kids excited about!
